Change is the only proverbial constant, and fashion has evolved rapidly to accommodate for it in these extraordinary times. FDCI’s India Couture Week 2020 too adapted to a time where physical events are impossible. The result? A wholly digital showcase, dependant on innovation and fashion films, for the very first time in Indian fashion history. The line-up included Couture Week regulars from Manish Malhotra and Gaurav Gupta to Rahul Mishra and Anju Modi.

We decode the collections of three A+CO designers — who adapted couture for our screens… decided sparks of joy in these unprecedented times.

An ode to the legacy of Indian craftsmanship through the ages, it paid homage to the exuberance of Punjab, and the delicacy of Mughal and Urdu artistry through bridal wear comprising kalidar kurtas, khada dupattas, ghararas and salwars for women, and jamas, angrakhas and heavy shawls for men. Luxe handmade fabrics were another highlight of Malhotra’s extravaganza, aptly donned by his muse Janhvi Kapoor.
